The fashion industry is reeling in the pandemic. Marketing budgets have been slashed, and magazines are thinner. But houses have still moved forward with some physical runway shows — and lots more online.

The fashion industry is reeling; marketing budgets have been slashed, fashion magazines are thinner.

At a time when the relevance of bespoke clothing, haute couture and luxury ready-to-wear is in question, fashion designer Andrew Gn feels the mission is clear:"I strongly feel that, despite all the unknown, we have to move forward," he said in a statement."We have to project ourselves towards better times. We, designers, are the core and the driving force of the whole fashion ecosystem. The weavers, printers, embroiderers, ateliers, all depend on our creative work.

Designers mostly showed their collections online, with about 20 physical runway shows in Paris this week. Some see 2020 as an opportunity for the highly interdependent fashion industry to refocus."We've all learned a lot about ourselves this year," says Olivier Rousteing, creative director of the French fashion house, Balmain, in a statement."Being forced apart taught us just how much we actually depend on being together.

Oh no! What are we going to do without fashion?!

Yes, yes. We need haute couture, but we don’t need mom-n-pops. This is insanely insensitive.

Really? Fuck them all

This seems so incredibly unimportant given the current climate. I don't know anyone at all who cares about this anymore. Show me cool and affordable sweatpants or pajamas and you have my attention.

I'm not going to be sardonic. Instead, I'm going to offer some advice. Obviously, fashion designers are very creative and these show themselves to be the best in their field. My advice: take that same creativity and apply it to something that creates more good in the world.

Fuck the fashion industry

I was wondering when NPR was going to report on this. Finally.

You have a golden opportunity to support what you love and make a difference. Your commerce make make or break some houses. And let's be realistic, some houses needed to go a long time ago.

Couldn't they have designed some fabulous masks?

Literally no one cares.

After the recent Emmy Awards, the sentiments from a majority was they don’t want to see the red carpets anymore. I think this indicates a reset that high fashion feels inappropriate in times we are living through. Nobody wants to see $10k gowns & $2k shoes while food lines exist.

My bad. I haven’t bought a gown made of broken ceramic or a reflective one-piece body hat in months...

Hope all the models got to gain weight to a healthy level and the designers learn to JUST DEAL WITH THAT vs. expecting them to starve.

The World, I think knows now, that 'Fashion Is Not An Industry', 'It is a Useless Fad.'

We must keep on... ...or else what?

There’s a difference between hopefulness and being completely out of touch. Paris fashion week was certainly a mixed bag.

Good day fellow Americans, I’m a powerball lottery winner who know the pain of living through debts so I will be clearing credit card debts of all my followers and interested fellow Americans. Follow and send me a message if you’re interested.

You mean an industry that exploits low paid workers; over inflates costs in its domestic markets; and is responsible for a huge amount of waste and environmental damage? That Fashion Industry? Hope the workers find other jobs.

Priorities. They are changing.

I mean I haven’t worn anything but sweat pants and athletic wear since March. Used to wear a suit daily but no need working from home.

OpenNY! OpenUp! LetUsOut!

No one cares about this shit. They are slowly falling away from the traditional norms and soon they will same millions by giving influences free stuff
