Speculations had surfaced NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian may stand aside pending Monday’s ICAC inquiry however that belief doesn't now appear to be the case according to Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell. On Monday, Premier Berejiklian rejected claims she interfered in an area outside of her jurisdiction to an ICAC inquiry investigating the nature of her relationship with disgraced former MP Daryl Maguire.
However, she strongly denied suggestions she knew of Mr Maguire’s business interests in the sale and development of land surrounding Badgerys Creek where the government planned to build the new Western Sydney airport. “An hour ago, I heard speculation that she might stand aside pending the inquiry’s findings and have an acting premier in Dominic Perrottet for that period,” Mr Clennell told Sky News. “I don’t know how sustainable that would be, I think that’s unlikely,” he said.
