Attorney-General Christian Porter proposed a Commonwealth body which would look at matters of interest, but only where criminal activity was suspected. The body would also operate behind closed doors.

Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese last night defended Ms Berejiklian’s prerogative to have a relationship with whom she wanted but joined the calls for a national body against corruption. “There’s issues with regard to her knowledge of what was going on and Mr Maguire’s conduct but she certainly shouldn’t be judged for the fact that she has a relationship with someone,” Mr Albanese said. “Consenting adults, that’s no one’s business except for hers.
