ICYMI: Facebook likely has longer-term plans for the Audience Network and probably won't shutter the service due to IDFA changes

Facebook let’s you and your business do targeting advertising through eight ad types to ensure your brand reaches the audience you want., moving to a single-auction model had always been a goal for the Audience Network—but Apple's decisions regarding the Identifier for Advertisers collection on iOS 14 is accelerating those plans.

This move suggests that Facebook has longer-term plans for the Audience Network and likely will not be shuttering the service due to IDFA changes. Following Apple's initial IDFA announcement, Facebook Once Apple said it will IDFA changes from fall of this year to early 2021—giving companies more time to adjust—Facebook said in September that it will go on collecting IDFA until Apple's changes are implemented.

Facebook has been pushing app bidding, and IDFA-related monetization difficulties give the company a reason to encourage more developers to adopt it. "Ad monetization hasn't necessarily been mobile app developers' leading priority," said Nicole Perrin, eMarketer principal analyst at Insider Intelligence.
