Fashion chain Next says its online sales were up 23.1% the third quarter, offsetting a 17.9% drop in retail.

The business, which does more than half of its sales online, said overall sales were better than expected, up 2.8% in the three months to October 24, compared with the same period a year ago.

The retailer is forecasting a full-year pretax profit of £365m, which is £65m more than was forecast in September.
