A 16-year-old has sold over $30,000 worth of sports trading cards since January after he switched from reselling sneakers. Here's why he says cards are more profitable.

The high school sophomore has sold more than $30,000 worth of merchandise since January, according to records on his StockX, eBay, and Paypal accounts, viewed by Business Insider.

"The ease of acquisition — pretty much how fast I can get this item and sell it — it's just so great with cards," Akolia said, regarding his transition. Sports trading cards have been around for decades. But only recently have some people figured out how toSiddh Akolia has been reselling trading cards since January, when a friend first introduced him to industry. The 16-year-old had previously been reselling sneakers since 2017.

In addition to the profit, Akolia quickly discovered that reselling trading cards was something he genuinely enjoyed doing. Akolia sells cards ranging across a variety of sports including baseball, basketball, football, and hockey.
