Exclusive: TikTok has been quietly routing job applicants' personal data through China, reports stokel

Business Insider understands all job applicants' data — not just those creating accounts with Facebook — is moved through Kundou's software during the process of applying for work at TikTok.

TikTok offers job applicants different privacy policy documents depending on where they're based, and not all disclose that information goes to China. Business Insider understands the mention of TikTok UK being headquartered in China is an error, though TikTok could not provide an explanation of how the claim came to be included in its privacy policy.

TikTok did not deny that it failed to disclose the fact it sends job applicant data to China, and was unable to explain how the UK's privacy policy said it was headquartered in China.
