McDonald's president pledges to do a 'better job' on transparency with franchisees after operators take a stand against shifting costs

Become an InsiderMcDonald's US president Joe Erlinger addressed tensions between McDonald's corporate and franchisees in an internal memo on Tuesday. voted to pause nonessential engagement with the corporate office,"It has been a challenging few weeks and none of us are pleased with the current issues between owner/operator leadership and the Company," Erlinger wrote.

"While the business continues to perform well with record cash flow, we recognize it has been a challenging few weeks and none of us are pleased with the current issues between owner/operator leadership and the Company," Erlinger wrote.

"While we believe the right teams and people had been engaged, we recognize there is an opportunity for more dialogue and discussion with owner/operator leadership on the critical issues," Erlinger wrote. "We need to collectively do a better job with how we engage on challenging topics and provide greater transparency and visibility directly to the entire System. We don't want to be in a situation again where anybody feels surprised.
