“I bought my first Neil Young album aged seven,” said Hipgnosis founder Merck Mercuriadis, saying the latest in a series of such rights deals would change his company for ever.“‘Harvest’ was my companion and I know every note, every word, every pause and silence intimately. Neil Young, or at least his music, has been my friend and constant ever since,” he added.

Financial details of the Young deal were not disclosed. Mercuriadis, a former music manager, said: “We will work together to make sure everyone gets to hear them on Neil’s terms.”

This is not a good thing. Perhaps if artists receive appropriate reimbursement, they can keep their work. Who knows, maybe people will start making awesome music again. Enough commercial, boy band, pop, elevator music. Where's this generations Neil Young ?

I guess it's time to burn my Corporate Rock Sucks t-shirts

This move is the kinda shit he sang AGAINST for all these years.

I absolutely support his right to do it but I do remember “I don’t sing for Coke” well it appears you do my friend.

This note’s for you. 😉

What

Holy 💩!!!

Ain’t singin’ for Pepsi, Ain’t singin’ for Coke, I don’t sing for nobody, Makes me look like a joke.

Cha ching!

Cough up the bucks?

Smart dude that he has owned the rights to his catalog all this time. There’s money to be made from streaming, pity it isn’t going to musicians (ahem ahem Spotify).

👏👏👏
