The 15 largest listed fashion companies are lagging behind when it comes to meeting the social and environmental targets of the Paris climate agreement and U.N. Sustainable Development Goals, a report said

The Business of Fashion, an online publication about the fashion industry, analysed in its report publicly disclosed information from the five biggest companies by revenue in three categories - luxury, sportswear, and high street fashion, including Kering, Adidas, H&M and others.

It also ranked the companies on transparency, or how much information about a company’s practices was currently available. “Opaque working practices and fuzzy definitions of what constitutes ‘good’ progress complicate matters further, creating a woolly picture of where the industry is at and what steps are required for it to clean up its act,” the report said.

Scores for Hermes, LVMH and Richemont averaged lower than high street fashion companies H&M, Inditex, Gap and Levi Strauss across the six categories - emissions, waste, workers’ rights, materials and transparency.

Germany electric car and 60% US states marginal emissions = 550g CO2/kWh 550 x 0.2 kWh x km = 110g CO2. petrol car = 120g CO2. battery = +5tons CO2. another battery after 10-12 years: +5t CO2 does this really help to reduce CO2?

2050?! Why so long? I'm sure matters could be addressed far sooner. They're just delaying to not hit profits! As usual money comes before ethics.

GretaThunberg There is no reason for their behavior! They have the necessary resources to implement this ASAP

The fashion industry is probably the most stupid industry we have, or at least has the most stupid customers: 'Oh, the fashion companies says on their fashion shows that I have to buy new fashion from them every fashion season. Better do as they say I guess.'

jmtarpon You can help solve this problem by wearing your clothes longer than you used to, even after they get a few holes. Using less detergent also helps clothes last longer and is better for the environment.

GretaThunberg of course they aren't going to, as there are no repercussions for failing to meet those goals. we need to have serious consequences for multinational corporations that fail to protect the earth.

The fashion industry is toxic and unnecessary.

ones that set bars so high that no one can achieve lol. awsome ehh

GretaThunberg 😪😪

I long for the days when fashion was about fashion, music was about music and film was about films.
