Alliance Airlines CEO Lee Schofield says his airlines’ “unique story” thriving during Covid consisted of “flexibility” – by allowing airlines such as Virgin and Qantas to outsource them to provide “capacity” for their airlines.

“Yeah we’ve just got a unique story during Covid – particularly for an aviation business,” he told Sky News. “It was difficult for us at the beginning but I think really the key reason we’ve been able to be different is that we’ve had flexibility - we’ve been able to respond and tailor our business to cope as best as we can with Covid. “Now 12 and-a-bit months on we’re in a position where we’re actually able to expand and really proud to have a good news story.

Mr Schofield also said apart from being a “first in first out ” service for the mining industry – its main source of business – the airlines also provides “capacity” for other airlines such as Virgin and Qantas. “That’s still the big part of our business is for the resource sector providing FIFO.
