Managers at troubled power utility Eskom by-passed National Treasury regulations to award tenders to certain companies, lied against an official, highlighting the rot from within the institution, and showed bias to some contractors.
City Press has seen documents that give a clue of how Eskom Group Chief Executive Officer André de Ruyter fell out with former chief procurement officer, Solly Tshitangano, who was vehemently fighting irregular procurement. The documents, we believe, are part of Tshitangano’s affidavit to the Select Committee on Public Accounts about corruption at Eskom.
