PETALING JAYA: Police will allow the use of existing letters issued by the International Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti) for work-related travels until June 3.

In a press conference on Tuesday , Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said many are still using the old letter.

"Some have said the new ones are still pending, while others have said that they have just applied the night before. So, as per the orders of the state police chief, we will allow the use of the old letters when we inspect cars at our roadblocks until June 3. "We have also advised them to go through their employers to apply for the new Miti letter, or letter of authorisation from the respective ministries," he said, adding that once the grace period is over, police will proceed with issuing compounds."I am pleased to see that the factories here, especially the big ones, have been very compliant. On road block updates, ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin said that 10 mobile roadblocks will be mounted in the district.
