Batu Lanchang assemblyman Ong Ah Teong said the market will be closed from Friday until further notice.
“All 55 stalls in the market will be closed immediately whereas the 87 temporary hawker sites can continue operations. The Health Department will follow up and screen all traders in the market, ” said Ong.“My service centre's team conducted our own initiative by rolling out a subsidised Covid-19 test programme in this constituency. Each of them has to pay only RM80 for the RTK Antigen Covid-19 tests at Lam Wah Ee Hospital instead of the full amount of RM120, ” said Ong.
“I hope more hawkers and traders will come forward to get tested, ” he added in a phone interview on Friday . It is learnt that the Perak Road market was ordered to close after five traders from two different stalls had tested positive.“All SOPs must be strictly followed. The market association committee members had sanitised the market thoroughly on Thursday afternoon. We used to sanitise the market once every week, ” he said.
