Dozens of truck drivers drove their vehicles across Sydney’s Anzac Bridge while honking their horns on Saturday afternoon | niltiac

Dozens of truck drivers gathered their vehicles on Sydney’s Anzac Bridge, choked surrounding arterial roads and honked their horns on Saturday afternoon in an apparent protest of the state government’s decision to shut down the construction industry for two weeks as part of a COVID-19 lockdown. It was not immediately clear how the protest was organised, with the Transport Workers Union and CFMMEU distancing themselves from the action when contacted.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced all construction in Greater Sydney would be paused until July 30 as part of an increasingly strict COVID-19 lockdown aimed at stopping the spread of the Delta variant.

niltiac I love all the financially secure SMH readers turning their noses up at ‘those meddling blue collar workers’. Very easy to deride their protests when your white collar job can be done remotely. There are casually employed construction workers who will lose their livelihoods.

niltiac Well done truck drivers

niltiac The trucker cartel. Not surprising to see them behave this way given their level of education. Savages

niltiac They need to be compensated. How about based on their 5 yearly average “after tax income” - per ATO records. 💰

niltiac So the construction workers are the heroes and we must feel sorry for them ? This BS is affecting everyone.. they get two weeks of doing absolutely nothing while everyone else work from home

niltiac

niltiac Wouldn’t it be great to be a government employee

niltiac How many of them will get a fine of some sort in the next two weeks for breach of covid regulations?

niltiac That’s bloody magnificent. Now if someone could explain to DanielAndrewsMP that construction isn’t immune from covid and doesn’t deserve special rules. Then again, Andrews is beholden to the CFMEU so they’ll continue to receive special privileges here

niltiac My Uncle is a truckie in Vic and he’s home with the fam because 4 removalists decided not to help. Bugger off home like the rest of us. Health workers out there doing there best to keep us safe and you lot behaving like a bunch of Yobbos.

niltiac The most unreliable industry protesting having to put the tools down for 2 weeks. No sympathy here.

niltiac Finally!!!Wasted 4 weeks, send everyone home so we can get through this

niltiac How's that different to any other day?

niltiac Work from home and earn 10 btc weekly with only 0.98btc without sending your money to anyone let show you how to start mining bitcoin from the comfort zone of your home want more info WhatsApp +1(678)960-9443

niltiac Well done free sydney go out there spread the love let the virus rip into the community

niltiac The covid express

niltiac Well you have got the headlines you've wanted.

niltiac Their terrible mistake was not being in the working-from-home class, secure-income class.

niltiac 🥴

niltiac Respect ✊

niltiac Wonder if there are any COVID positive removalists amongst them?

niltiac Sub contractors under WestConnex and WestMetro projects I imagine.

niltiac Love me some civil disobedience 👍

niltiac Well done Gladys.
