The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, in collaboration with the International Maritime Organization, has assessed the impact of short-term greenhouse gas reduction measures in Nigeria and other countries.

The report said, “Sector -route whose maritime logistics costs would be most affected by the IMO short-term measure is the import logistics cost of the food and beverages route in Nigeria with its contributions at 14.8 per cent at the pacific small island developing states, other sector affected are the food and beverages from Malaysia with 10.9 per cent, Food and Beverage from France with 17.6 per cent.

For change in transport cost, EESI is 0.5 per cent, 8.9 in high greenhouse gas emission cases and 2.5 per cent in low greenhouse gas emission cases.
