Scarlett Johansson and Walt Disney Co. are locked in a legal fight and war of words over “Black Widow’s” online release. It’s the latest flashpoint where talent pay practices have yet to catch up to broader industry changes.“After initially responding to this litigation with a misogynistic attack against Scarlett Johansson, Disney is now, predictably, trying to hide its misconduct in a confidential arbitration,” the actress’ attorney, John V.
Disney’s chief litigator, Petrocelli, said in a statement: “We are simply asking the Court to enforce the parties’ contract requiring arbitration of all disputes.” In court papers, Disney’s legal team wrote that Johansson and her firm, Periwinkle Entertainment Inc., had previously agreed that claims connected to Johansson’s portrayal of Natasha Romanova in “Black Widow” “would be submitted to confidential, binding arbitration in New York.
In the May 2017 contract, the two sides also agreed that “Johansson could potentially earn additional compensation if the picture were released and hit certain box-office thresholds.” When compared to the box office performance of other Marvel films before the pandemic, Johansson could have earned at least $50 million in compensation, knowledgeable people have said.
Open court! Show how corrupt corporate America. Healthcare is one of them
Never sign an arbitration clause...especially when buying a new car.
This is a slippery slope and what they can get away with they will try.
Anyone who made 20million in the corporate world in one hit would be described as a disgusting rich prick by the same people who are backing her law suit. And she is still asking for more.
Don't go to arbitration, Scarlett! Duke it out, girl!
OPEN COURT!!!
litterally she needs to not be selfish because disney plus did this because of covid and we still pay a huge amount to watch any premier access movies like wth
