No fewer than 41 shops have been razed by fire at the popular Kurmi Market in Kano State on Monday, the state’s fire service has said.

Kurmi is one of the oldest markets in the ancient city of Kano, the commercial city of Northern Nigeria.The inferno, which started around 2:00am, is said to have affected many shops in the books sellers part of the market.
