Move to tackle Omicron variant welcomed by scientists but trade body says it will add costs and hit demand

“But for a brief period it can buy the time needed to better understand the threat posed by this new variant and ensure the implementation of more robust identification and targeted contact tracing for individuals arriving from those countries now placed on the red list.

Forget the travel industry. It’s a massive blow to my mental health. I have been home once in 2 years and now I can’t come home for Christmas. I have a 2 year old that’s seen her grandparents once. Genuinely depressed, in tears just writing this.

The world has changed. There is an additional market factor to include in operational business. Shut up, manage it, be responsible instead of bleating on.

And after how many months so many folk still aren't wearing them correctly, over nose and mouth 😷

If they didn’t give contracts to companies that rip people off then it wouldn’t.

I’m just dying to go abroad.

Vaccines = free PCR= not Aha cool

“… is great boost to health of people” there fixed it for you.

Aw diddums.

Boooo whooo. Tests save lives & protect others. Money vs health

Boris should lockdown UK 🇬🇧 now and save lives

It's necessary as with other countries.

So they’d rather people died?

Huger blow: Travel bans. Why does the travel industry get their collective knickers in a twist over a simple test that could potentially 🛑 new viruses at the airport?

PCR tests for arrivals to UK should have been compulsory from the beginning.

Guess those Tory donors' companies really need that extra cash.

No, Covid is the 'huge blow'. Whinging incessantly about how inconvenient it is to cooperate to save lives isn't a good look

What a great opportunity to show who is in charge and to make people forget about the scandals, incompetence and broken promises if this Government. Peppa Pig or Big Brother is back and looking after you.

huge blow is the lack of vaccine equity with rich countries retaining most doses + rich countries retaining most antivaxx stupidity

Nothing has changed. There is no emergency. Ordering people around is for Nazis. This is not a free country anymore when a PM can order people to do what he wants. This is back to dog leash freedom. There is no emergency so he can eff off.

It would be worse for the travel industry if there were no people to travel because we are all dead.

This, as stated, obviously will massively impact the travel industry but it would be good if you could broaden your statement to include other businesses also such as English Language schools who received far less assistance last year than the mainstream travel industry

Not really....

Not really. It has to be undertaken within 48 hours. Safeguards are fine.

How come the Guardian's daily Coronavirus infections are so much lower than the BBC's

COVID-19 (84) continues.

But but but .. BBC News turns immediately to Susan Michie who naturally criticised the government for not taking away more of our liberties. Guess what? Viewers were AGAIN not informed of her Communist Party Background

good luck
