The Department of Defence has determined there is 'no national security risk' to justify stripping a Chinese-owned company of the lease of the Port of Darwin. 9News

The Northern Territory's Giles government leased the port to Chinese company Landbridge in 2015.

The department determined there was "no national security risk" to justify stripping Landbridge of the lease, despite deepening tensions between Canberra and Beijing."Any Chinese company if instructed by Beijing must engage in spying or other nefarious activity," he said.It leaves the Morrison government in a delicate diplomatic balancing act.

The NT government says if the Commonwealth wants to spend more than $500 million in the Territory, it should invest in things that will generate new jobs rather than sending cash overseas.

Hahaha! If Andrews had made the deal it would be scrapped. So corrupt

”no national security risk' really means 'we can't do shit to stop them'

We Liberals negotiated this so it must be what's best in our interests, I mean Australia's interests!

'dRumS oF wAR' 😂

Get rid of the Chinese 👎 in port Darwin

The DoD says there is no national security risk - but then you quote many others saying there is. Do you not have confidence in our national institutions? If the DoD, under the current climate, says no risk, then there is NO RISK. It's pretty simple.

The collective says no. As simple as that. No need for DoD opinions.

So Duttons 'War Talk' was all just a scare campaign for the election.

No national security risk? Shhhhh, don’t mention their sales pitch for the nuclear subs.

LOL. So then why did Potato Dutton 🥔 🇦🇺 spend an hour antagonizing, berating, chastising, criticizing, “shirt-fronting” etc China a mere 6 weeks ago at PressClubAust? 💁🏼‍♀️🇦🇺🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩
