Revenue claws back wage subsidy from parents who used it to pay childminders – obraonain reports.

Revenue told families who claimed for the temporary wage subsidy scheme for childminders that it was meant only for businesses and demanded the repayment of €261,000 in total

The Revenue Commissioners have clawed back the money from the “majority” of parents who wrongly used state funding to pay their childminders during the lockdown. These parents wanted to keep the link with their childminder, even though many were afraid to allow them in their homes due to public health advice at the time to minimise contact.

Around 39 different households claimed around €7,000 each on average under the temporary wage subsidy scheme...
