Whose call was it to pull Young music’s from Spotify? Does it matter that Young recently sold half his publishing rights? Here’s what you need to know

to his management and his record label asking that his music be scrubbed from Spotify if it continued to carry the controversial podcastIt is Young’s contention that through the popular podcast , comedian Rogan was spreading “fake information” about vaccines. “I want you to let Spotify know immediately today that I want all my music off their platform,” Young wrote in a since deleted post on his Neil Young Archives website. “They can have Rogan or Young. Not both.

Spotify chose Rogan over Young, saying they “regret Neil’s decision to remove his music from Spotify, but hope to welcome him back soon.” Except for a few scattered tracks, Young’s music is no longer available on the world’s most widely used streaming service. It means that NO musician is God. You do not get to lord your musical gift over someone and then hold them hostage because of it. The entertainment world is fickle- what is popular one day can be forgotten tomorrow. YOU should stick to what you know, and stay out of politics.

Nothing. Joe Rogan is where it's at, not an ageing rock star.

Contrary to popular belief, money isn't everything. Feels good to see someone stand against the rampant disinformation from these antivaxxers.

Dude asked for them to choose, they chose. It isn't his fault that he called for censorship and it blew up in his face. The good guy in the story isn't the one who calls for censorship.

Keep on rocking in a free world, except of course if I don't like what you gotta say. Neil punched himself in the dick here.

Interesting side effect might be an increase in actual album sales for Young, I’d love to know how big and how sustained.

It means nothing for the music industry but it's a HUGE win for free speech & free expression.

Not nice Spotify

I hope he started a waterfall exit by artists who demand the same thing.
