The Black Business Council (BBC) has called on President Cyril Ramaphosa to ensure that government departments pay small and medium business overdue invoices.

Black Business Council

“There are a lot of small businesses that closed shop mainly because they have not been paid for the last 5 years or so. So, we’re calling for the president to say can’t we give this an ultimatum of about 6 months and tell all the ministers that by the end of six months, I want all invoices paid! because the impact of that is very, very serious on small businesses.

The Black Business Council says it called on the President to speed up the signing of the public procurement bill to which the Minister of Finance promised that bill will be fast-tracked.Among other issues that the council raised is the need for implementation of plans and the need for equity funding for businesses owned by youth, women and persons living with disabilities.

Why should Ramaphosa do everything? There is a minister for small business.

This to be honest had been a cry for many of us , it shows we've a GovernmentZA that doesn't PutSouthAfricaFirst . President CyrilRamaphosa have been speaking timeously but it seems those under him aren't ready to implement. GautengProvince try their level best.

Many of us closed shop due to different reasons, payment in 30 days being an important issue. Being told to pay R5 000-00 in advance of a tender being awarded...sies!

DSBD_SA RonaldLamola Government,SOE and private companies are the cause of poor economic growth, they intentionally delay payments to SMME to unduly benefit financially by using them 'especially black SMME'as credit facility. We need Commercial Court to force economic growth

If want to lose money try to do business with a state, i know someone who is sitting with an unpaid invoice for 9 years now

In 2019 I waited for a mere R39k payment from northwest department of transport until I gave up.

Officials working in invoices processing department want a bribe before paying you. They have their own people whose invoices are prioritised. This has been happening from since MYANC took over.

Government does not pay full stop, they just take... if you want to do business with Government carry on, but remember THEY DO NOT PAY....

DSBD_SA deptoflabour TreasuryRSA SMMEs reduce unemployment & poverty, with difficulty of funding, the same institution which is suppose to be forefront in supporting us is killing us financially, I'm a victim of delayed invoice from one of the municipality utility as I type

Speak with Treasury and DGs, Come on this is not a Presidential matter . Kanti What are those DGs and DDGs for anyway?

lira12_joy RSA government is merciless on small business

I can attest its hard for Small and Medium Business since 2018 😭

Thought for his resignation

Sophie_Mokoena And small business must also render quality service in the villages and not leave incomplete work

Zungu at it again

Marete a ramaphosa

Best example of 'own medicine' ever. The irony is that they(BBC) knew from the start that the ANC govt were not going to pay, EVER, because they would do the same. All business I do with black business are paid in full up front, and never a problem, because they know.

He mustn't say anything 🙆🤦🤞he is disgusting 🤞🤞

That call will fall on deaf ears. Why would government department deployed ANC cadres pay invoices when they can pocket the money themselves. CyrilRamaphosa

BlackBCouncil this is lip service and you know it ,it's an insult to small businesses.
