Ten minutes. That’s the longest you have to drive anywhere you need to be in the small town of Terranora, which is one of the main drawcards that’s seen this little-known locale become the hottest property market in NSW.
“Terranora is just 10 minutes from the ocean and 10 minutes to the Tweed Valley and the hinterland – it’s 10 minutes from everywhere,” Base Property’s Katarina Molnar said. The town’s newfound popularity has been in part driven by these out-of-town buyers, becoming another by-product of the work-from-home regional property boom, as more people moved to far-flung locations and took their city incomes with them.
“There are still quite a few retirees here, but it gets to a point where the garden gets too much,” Ms Bolitho said, adding that a lot of Sydney families are now buying these properties. The local private Anglican Grammar school is another drawcard for buyers, with many of their children already enrolled when they are inspecting properties at open homes, Ms Bolitho noted.
Byron Bay’s popularity has also spilt over into the town, as many priced-out buyers expand their search and discover Terranora, which offers bigger blocks for less than its southern counterparts, including Brunswick Heads and Mullumbimby, Ms Bolitho said.
