The announcement comes after reports that Channel 5, Fremantle Media, and Australian broadcaster Channel 10 had been trying to reach a deal to secure the show's future.

In a statement supplied to Sky News, a Channel 5 spokesperson said:"Neighbours will no longer air on Channel 5 beyond this summer. "It has been a much-loved part of our schedule for more than a decade, and we'd like to thank the cast, Fremantle and all of the production team for their fantastic work on this iconic series."We recognise that there will be disappointment about this decision, however our current focus is on increasing our investment in original UK drama, which has strong appeal for our viewers.

Who actually watches Channel 5🤔🤔

Does this mean those god awful US murder dramas will also be ditched from its 3pm schedules..i doubt it

Probably because it’s too white for this day and age 🙄🤦‍♂️😂

Channel 5 has not made any official announcement about Neighbours being axed.

Now they can cancel neighbour's and home & away in Australia.

Not watched that in few years. It got boring. No big loss.

TBf who cares...lol

maxrushden can you use your celebrity status to stop this? Something must be done.

My daily routine is almost based around Neighbours weekdays. Lunch & shopping done before home 1:45pm UK time, so i can catch up with Toddy & sneaky Paul Robo & the gang. Better soap OP than the crap we have native in the UK these days Neighbours channel5_tv kylieminogue 😍

Not missed one episode in over 20 years, you know April 1st is over a month away!

Oh BBC... BBC

Gutted , it’s the only soap I watch..always have. British soaps are way to dark and depressing.

It's crap now anyway

Another channel has to pick this up, I didn’t start watching it in 1986 to stop watching now!! 😝

Guess Everybody don't need good Neighbour's then😳

Disgusting

Gutted

Perplexed that this is even countenanced in the same league as legitimate breaking news...
