Small-scale fishing communities want to stop a seismic survey off the West Coast being conducted by Australian company Searcher.The South African government's allowance of seismic surveys, conducted by British and Australian companies, has come at the cost of local fishing communities, the Western Cape High Court has heard.
The Western Cape High Court on Monday heard from legal representatives of West Coast fishing communities, who are seeking to block a seismic survey between the Namibian border and Cape Agulhas. The survey is being conducted by Australian geoscience data supplier Searcher Seismic.
