Big four consulting firm EY has followed rivals PwC and KPMG in ejecting its Russian operation from its global network following President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

The move by EY comes after rivals PwC and KPMG earlier on Monday announced they were also kicking their businesses in Russia and Belarus out of their respective global networks.

Demonstrators hold placards during a Stop the War protest at Trafalgar Square on March 6, 2022 in London, England.“EY has commenced a restructuring of its Russian member firm to separate it from the global network,” the firm said in a statement.“This is not something we take lightly. This is heart-breaking as we have over 4700 colleagues in Russia, who have been a part of our global network for over 30 years and worked side by side with our global, Eastern European and Ukrainian colleagues.

PwC Russia has roughly 3700 professionals, while KPMG has more than 4500 people in Russia and Belarus.
