The multinational software company, SAP, has been ordered by the Special Tribunal to pay back more than R413 million to the Water and Sanitation Department. SIUSpecialTribunal

The Special Investigating Unit investigated two software license and support agreement contracts valued at over R1 billion between the department and SAP, between 2015 and 2016.

It found the department had irregularly concluded the contracts. They have been declared invalid and set aside. However, the tribunal ordered that over R400 million of the more than R1 billion software license contracts be paid back by SAP to the department. “The Tribunal further ordered SAP to pay the department R263 million within five days of the date of the order, with any remainder to be paid after the Special Tribunal’s determination of whether any further amount should be deducted from the amount due,” says SIU spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago.
