Dolly Parton is lending her voice to Spotify’s first Bookcast, “an immersive listening experience' that blends the novel 'Run, Rose, Run,' with Parton's original soundtrack.

, a new format for the streaming platform that combines audio storytelling with original music to create what the company calls “an immersive listening experience.” In the debut, Parton and herblend their novel with an original soundtrack written, produced and recorded by the singer-songwriter.

“What a great way to reach out to listeners all around the world,” Parton said in a statement. “When we wrote this book together, I felt I could contribute best by sticking to my first love, music. James and I hope that listeners will be able to feel the connection between the book and the album as we work to bring this story and these characters to life, as only two storytellers can.

While Patterson has written more than 200 books, he was “thrilled” to work with Parton on the novel, the first to come with its own soundtrack. “I’ve been a fan of Dolly Parton’s storytelling for years, so I was thrilled to collaborate with her onand bring these characters to life,” Patterson said in a statement. “The music she’s created around this project is incredible, and I’m grateful that Spotify has given us the opportunity to bring listeners a new experience of the book and album.”Bookcast is available for free on Spotify, with additional episodes released weekly.
