Eleven motorists have been arrested for alleged drunken driving on Limpopo’s roads since Saturday night.

Transport Department Spokesperson, Mike Maringa says the drivers were arrested during a road safety operation campaign conducted by the law enforcement officers on various roads, including the R71.“Limpopo transport and community safety MEC Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya is concerned about motorists who continue to disregard the calls to avoid driving under the influence of alcohol.

The driver was immediately arrested and detained at Olievenhoutbosch Police Station to face charges relating to Driving under the influence of intoxicating alcohol as well as an alternative charge of reckless and negligent driving.”
