Goldman Sachs has hired Credit Suisse retail and consumer sector investment banker Daniel Rana for its financial sponsors coverage team.

Rana, a Melbourne-based banker who spent more than a decade with Credit Suisse, will relocate to Sydney to join Goldman Sachs as a senior vice president.

He’s expected to move into Goldman Sachs’ financial and strategic investors group, which covers private equity firms and other financial sponsor clients, and report to managing director Tim Freeman, who heads up the unit locally.The signing suggests Goldman Sachs expects to see strong activity from its financial sponsor clients.
