This weekend, hundreds of millions of people across the Indian subcontinent are enduring almost unliveable conditions, as the region remains gripped by a deadly heat dome that scientists have confirmed has been intensified by climate change. But neither that ominous humanitarian crisis, nor the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, could even begin to compete for political or media oxygen in Ireland last week with the bizarre rolling controversy surrounding, of all things, turf.

Solid fuel has serious effects on people with respiratory problems and more serious consequences for others.we need to move on better housing stock and retrofitting homes.

Turf causes pollution. Pollution contributes to 1.3k xs deaths/yr. Turf doesn't kill 1300/Yr. Turf used by small no. less rich rural ppl- cook/heat/wash. Instead of paying 2 switch 2 cleaner, efficient fuel system, Greens lied+demonised ppl. Cant shame ppl to greener future.
