A historic Alabama restaurant has had its license revoked because of its failure to pay sales taxes

Martin's Restaurant in Montgomery, Ala., is famous for its crispy fried chicken and it crusty cornbread muffins.

The council voted unanimously to revoke the license for Martin’s and set a show-cause hearing for a future meeting, reports the Montgomery Advertiser., Martin’s Restaurant is a city institution that goes back to the early 1930s. The restaurant’s original proprietor, Alice Martin opened the original location of her namesake restaurant at the junction of Pineleaf Street and Carter Hill Road sometime in the late 1920s and early ‘30s.from his family physician, Dr. Farris Martin.
