SINGAPORE — Singapore Management University (SMU) is reviewing its vetting procedures on academic writing after an assistant professor of finance was found to have falsified academic claims.

According to an SMU spokesperson on Friday , Ms Margaret Zhu's employment with the university ceased with effect from May 1.

According to Ms Zhu's LinkedIn page, she joined SMU in July 2021, and was formerly an assistant professor of finance for The Chinese University of Hong Kong from September 2019 to July 2021, and an assistant professor for City University of Hong Kong from August 2021 to August 2019.
