Some listeners of Ligwalagwala FM, a SABC radio station based in Mbombela Mpumalanga, have commended the station for the role it has played in improving their lives. This as the radio station celebrates 40 years on air.

Taxi operators, motorists and the station’s branded vehicles brought the city to a standstill as they embarked on a convoy around the streets of Mbombela.

Listeners were happy to be part of the celebration. They say through the station’s programmes they have been able to take informed decisions about their lives and future. “We wish that Ligwalagwala can grow beyond the 40 years and reach 100 because it helps us a lot as listeners. We get information about everything, things that we don’t know about, including the weather, news, we wish Ligwalagwala to grow from strength to strength,” says a listener.A taxi operator from Matsulu, Themba Msimango says his taxi is always tuned into Ligwalagwala FM.

Acting Business Manager Mpumalanga Combo, Ntfonjana Dlamini says listeners of the station must brace themselves for new content for both young and old. She added beside its mandate of entertaining, informing and educating, the station will continue to make a positive change in people’s lives, in particular the less privileged.
