The introduction of a vacant homes tax next year is in doubt after the Revenue found a “low level of vacancy” across all counties.

The self reported ones? bloody ridiculous carry on if anyone considered this to be potentially accurate, several councils have not a single property on their registers, simply impossible.

The government's overriding objective seems to be to drive up property prices at any cost. Vacant property taxes, crackdowns on Airbnb landlords and dereliction etc etc would run counter to that objective, which explains why the government resists such measures.

As well as finding low levels of self-reported derelict and vacant homes, if you believe the official numbers there are no: - Rent increases above rent caps - Ghost bids by real estate agents - Misleading adverts by real estate agents - Short-term lets in RPZs
