The legal age for smoking could be increased to 21 under plans drawn up by order of Sajid Javid, the Health Secretary, amid hopes that less than five per cent of Britons will smoke by 2030.

A “radical” independent review commissioned by Mr Javid is expected to report in the coming weeks and will recommend that the legal age to purchase cigarettes is increased and new taxes are slapped on tobacco company profits, The Telegraph understands.

Mist places in the U. S. it us already 21 years of age and has been for a long time.

Oh dear. We really need a general election.

Shouldn't you be reporting on dodgy Tory Peer Michelle Mone ? Just another bent Tory Brexiter. There's so many of them. An underworld P.I. and an outcast journalist team up to expose a corrupt peadophile rapist backbench Tory MP.

Great idea, but 21 is nowhere near high enough. You need to restrict access as much as possible in the “silly years”, so I would suggest raising to 27.

Then ban alcohol as well. Bloody thick twit

Just creating more criminals needlessly. 1. Encouraging health education as to why choosing not to smoke is a good thing. Or 2. Raising taxes & making it illegal for more people just increases crime. They will never change because it is a business model & a legal racket.
