Defence lawyer for four of the men accused in the murder of Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa has called on the court proceedings to be halted at the high court in Pretoria.

Advocate Malesela Tefo says it has come to his attention that the accused were brought in open court in October 2020 without their rights being read to them. He also says the accused were not told before as to why they were taken to court. On Thursday the forensic field worker, who collected evidence from the crime scene of Senzo Meyiwa admitted that he only photographed exhibits pointed out to him by the late Brigadier Philani Ndlovu.

Meyiwa was shot at the home of his girlfriend Kelly Khumalo in Vosloourus, Johannesburg, in 2014 during an alleged robbery.Mosia was questioned by one of the accused’s lawyers, Zandile Mshololo, about how he ensured the credibility of the evidence he was shown. Adv Mshololo says, “Then I’m asking how do you know brigadier Ndlovu was posting the correct splats to you. How did you ensure that? That he was giving you the correct information? I wouldn’t know about that. And you couldn’t take any pictures of the spots wherein brigadier Ndlovu did not point to you?
