As if recent increases in the cost of living weren't already causing enough stress, Eir has announced it's set to hike up its prices.
The telecommunications company said the increase is intended to "assist with increased operating costs, supporting further investment, while removing the ambiguity of price increases for customers and ensuring price corresponds with inflation rates". Diesel is over 40% more expensive than it was last year, while petrol is 24% dearer, with some pumps around the country charging over €2 per litre.
Barry Cahill, Director at Taxback.com, told RSVP Live that the rising cost of living is going to have a knock-on effect on the wider economy.
