Through the farm gate and up a gravel drive is Moss Cottage, located just 9km from the picturesque seaside town of Rathmullan in Co Donegal. On the market for, its 112 square metres is spread across a storey and half, the original cottage was built in 1828, before later being extended to its current size.
A bright red front door welcomes you into the protruding porch. A Dutch door leads from there into the double-fronted main living space which occupies the cottage section of the house. The kitchen area includes slate floors, solid pine units, a Belfast sink, tiled splashback and a modern oven and a four-ring gas hob in the corner.
In the living area, oak floors lead the eye to a boy-belly stove in the hearth of a Mountcharles stone, as white walls highlight exposed timber beams overhead. The first of three bedrooms lies off the living room, a double room with views out either side and its own ensuite shower room. In the newer, two-storey part of the house, entered off the kitchen, a slate-stone hallway with pine staircase greets you. Still on the ground floor is the second bedroom, similarly proportioned to the first with a double bed and ensuite. Upstairs is another sizable double bedroom and a family shower room.
The house is situated on a sweeping one-acre plot featuring mature trees and views of Donegal mountains. The sale of the house also includes a number of pieces of furniture, an oil-fired heating system and double-glazed timber windows so you know it will be toasty come wintertime.
