The seven-story Argyle Apartments opened in 1927 on Oak Lawn Avenue just a block from the Melrose Hotel.

Built for the then-lofty sum of $400,000, the red brick-and-stone building was at its opening described as “one of the finest of the several large modern apartments erected in Dallas in recent years.”

With 48 rental units, the building at Hall Street and Oak Lawn is one of the oldest continually operating residential buildings in Dallas. Units in the Argyle range in size from 277-square-foot studios to two-bedroom apartments with more than 1,200 square feet.Since 2016, the landmark has been owned by a real estate partnership represented by Dallas’ Indio Management. Now, commercial property firm CBRE Group has been hired to market the building for sale.

“Current ownership performed a complete capital overhaul, spending more than $5.1 million in the last few years,” CBRE’s marketing pitch says. “The building was taken to the shell and renovated, including all mechanical, plumbing and electrical services. “Loft-style living with ultra-modern touches including quartz counters, gold hardware and open floor plans with hardwood floors, exposed concrete and lots of natural light create a unique lifestyle experience at the Argyle.”The Argyle is just the latest high-rise Dallas rental building to hit the market.with more than $29 billion in properties changing hands in the last year.
