MBSJ Corporate and Strategic Management deputy director Azfarizal Abdul Rashid said four compounds were issued to food handlers for not having anti-typhoid vaccines, five for dirty premises and one for storing food and kitchen utensils less than 20cm from the floor.
All compounds carried a maximum fine of RM1,000 for contravening various city council by-laws, he said. Azfarizal said the operation was led by MBSJ Environment Health senior assistant officer Hazlina Abdul Hamid and involved officers from the Licensing, Environment Management and Enforcement departments.“The operation is part of MBSJ’s routine checks on food premises to ensure they abide by our standards of public safety and health.
“MBSJ will continue carrying out routine checks, especially to keep water-borne diseases and food poisoning at bay,” he said.
