that Houston chefs are criticizing the association for involving Abbott in the conference, with at least one chef backing out of catering one of the weekend’s events.that she was scheduled to provide food for the TRA’s Lone Star Bash on July 10, but when she found out Abbott was part of the conference’s lineup, she withdrew from the event.

Emily Williams Knight, CEO and president of the TRA, told the newspaper in a statement that the association is a non-partisan organization that works with members of both political parties.

The governor’s keynote speech is scheduled to follow a session earlier in the day called “The Workforce Crunch, Part I: Immigration Reform For The Restaurant Industry.”
