I think the two aren’t related. Trump isn’t competent enough to prevent it. He promised jobs to workers when in fact he had no authority over who GM keeps employed. He gaslighted his supporters into thinking he had that much influence when he does not.

I blame Americans for lacking ingenuity, design, and engineering talent to compete with Japanese and German automakers. Look at all those Toyota, Honda, Audi, BMW, and Volkswagen sedans out there. At least Tesla is getting it done in the name of America.
