CEO says company to 'make every change and investment needed' without providing specific detailsTony Staffieri, the president and CEO of Rogers Communications, says the company 'will make every change and investment needed to help ensure' that such massive outages do not occur again in future.
The Canadian telecom operator will also take steps to ensure that 911 and essential services will be reachable if another outage occurs, Chief Executive Tony Staffieri"You have my personal commitment that Rogers will make every change and investment needed to help ensure that it will not happen again," Staffieri said, without providing further details or a specific dollar amount of investment.
Talk is cheap.
Big company don’t care just they love our money and provide very poor service
This means our phone bill just went up. I think i need a landline.
The telecom companies have no oversight, they charge as they please, and the government has put itself in their hands. What a state of affairs! Monopoly, monopoly, monopoly....
Does everyone really believe this outage was result of a software update. I would be unlikely that a simple software update would crimpple the entire network.
What was the cause Rogers ? Be Transparent
Too little too late
I’m quite certain that these so-called investments and changes is going to be at the expense of the Rogers customers like always these changes always seems to bring higher charges on your monthly bill..
They’re going to change our plans to be higher and invest into the CRTC to not allow competition or be held accountable.
I wonder how many customers they lost
LoL
I'm guessing they were hacked, know how it happened and know it was preventable, but that would have cost an extra 20 or 30 dollars.
Watch them hike rates to pay for said 'investment.'
A specific detail what is needed in the Media world DefundCBC
Dear Rogers customer: We will raise your rates next month to pay for all this overtime we are using to fix the issues that we have created, we value your business, thanks!
Lesson: industry should never be allowed to self regulate. Duh.
And no doubt they use this as an excuse to raise prices.
Could it be possible they were the victims of a cyber attack? Telecoms have redundancies upon redundancies that would normally keep their services up and running. A complete collapse of their entire network seems almost impossible under normal circumstances.
If the truth were known, I bet they were hacked.
They need to build a 'lab' with every piece of gear they have in the network, you test any upgrades in the 'lab' that's what we do at Freedom, can't believe Rogers stopped doing that.
We want details!
Lol ok
