Canada’s benchmark stock index opened up Friday with energy stocks increasing amid a rebound in oil prices.

At 10:25 a.m. ET, the S&P/TSX Composite Index was up 68.06 points to 18,397.12. The move follows a 286.13 drop Thursday.

Friday’s trading session comes a day after the TSX financial sector experiencing a 3.19 per cent drop as recession fears brought the group to its lowest point since June 2020.
