Generators are expected to receive compensation totalling hundreds of millions of dollars for putting more supply into the market while the wholesale electricity market was suspended. “Part of the challenge for us, I think, is to make sure we have the mechanisms in place to smooth that transition as much as possible.”which will pay providers to ensure there is enough dispatchable generation when coal and gas exits the grid. It is being introduced by the Energy Security Board by mid-2025.
