JOHANNESBURG - South Africa's manufacturing sector will struggle to contribute to the economy as it grapples with higher operating costs, mainly fueled by Sasol's natural gas price hike. The Industrial Gas Users Association of Southern Africa says that the latest price increase is likely to double the price of natural gas.Last week, Sasol announced that it was increasing the price of gas by 96 percent.READ:The association is estimating that the increase will cost South Africa's economy R325-million per month.

It also says its not just industries like manufacturing that will be impacted, consumers will feel the burden as well.
