EnerVenue's battery cells look like metal water bottles that can be packed in large quantities in units that are the size of 20-foot shipping containers. When the container is filled, it has about 600 of the battery cells and weighs nearly 20 tons, which is the maximum that is allowed to be shipped on public roads in the U.S.
CEO Jorg Heinemann said the company is in the process of deciding where it will build a gigafactory to produce its battery cells at scale. He declined to say where that will be but said that the Bay Area can't be ruled out. Heinemann said that while EnerVenue's first revenue is expected later this year, it has commitments from North American customer for all of its planned production for the next four to five years."The amount of demand for what we are doing, even before deployment by our first customers, is astounding.
