What's new in the Southland? Freedom Butchers, a new meat market will celebrate its grand opening Saturday on 159th Street in Orland Park.

Freedom Butchers, a new meat market that held its soft opening at the end of July, will celebrate its grand opening Saturday at 8600 W. 159th St. in Orland Park.

Owners will be grilling burgers, sausages and steak samples all day. Guests can grab something hot off the grill, a side and a soft drink.Grand opening specials will be available from Sept. 1 to 5. Although normally closed on Monday, the store will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Labor Day. Northwestern Medicine awarded more than $1.7 million to 49 organizations that offer a wide range of services including housing, nutritional needs, transportation, child care, mental health and primary care.Locally, grants went to Pathlights in Palos Heights, Sertoma Centre in Alsip and Sleep in Heavenly Peace in Oak Forest.
